Single Life

Today I got a phone call from my Saudi Arabia customer. Although we just met one time when he visited Taiwan in last year, we just like a good friend which knows each other a long time. He asked me, “Miranda, are you married”? I said, “Not yet!” Why? I said, “I enjoy my life now”, and then he told me “You are not a young girl, you should get married earlier, you must have your own family, lovely husband and children.” Just like his life now, he has lovey wife and four children. He told me that he treats me as his daughter, so that when I am getting married, I must tell him, and then he will send me a gift. I promised him I would do my best to find my Mr. Right as earlier as I can. He told me that he will come to Taiwan in this July, he hopes I can tell him a good news and get married on that time. OH MY GOD! How come? Within two months that I should find the Mr. Right of my life? No kidding, it is impossible.

I am wondering, why people should get married? I like a single life; I can go anywhere I want to go and without any heavy load. I am satisfied and enjoyed my life now.

Travel in Beijing (Day 3 ~ Day 5)

At 3rd day, we went to “Great wall at Badaling”, we took cable car to the top, and also walked a section of road which the road was very rugged and cliffy. In the afternoon, we went to Beijing National Stadium (Bird Nest), the stadium was designed for use throughout the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

At 4th day, we went to “Summer Palace”, it is a palace in Beijing. We took boats to enter there. Both sides of rivers were planted a lot of willows, the scenery was very beautiful. In the evening, we saw a show regarding the story of Buddhist Monk. But it was very boring for me. I was too tired to doze off during the show.

At last day, we didn’t go to any spots, only go shopping then back to Taiwan. I was very happy during this trip, owing to I can take my parents accompany with me. It was a very unforgettable experience for me.

Travel in Beijing (Day 1 ~ Day 2)

My company held incentive tour to Beijing with five days and four nights for us in last month. I took my parents go with me together. It was the first time that I went to aboard with both of my parents. I was very excited and expected of this journey.

At 1st day, when we arrived at Beijing Airport around 8p.m. Beijing is more four or five times as big as Taoyuan Airport. We must take around 5 minutes airport expresses to get our luggage.

At 2nd d day, we went to “The Palace Museum & Tiananmen Square” in the morning. We entered from east side and out from south side already spent 3.5horus. Most of us were exhausted after we visit The Palace Museum & Tiananmen Square. I couldn’t image how big there. Only a day was not enough for us if we want to visit the whole Museum, I think. However, it was a pity that we didn’t have enough time to stay each stop over 10 minutes. It really too much people there, no matter local citizens or foreigners. In the afternoon, we went to “Temple of Heaven” which the famous is Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests.

Control my Weight

In these two months, I found that most of my jeans button couldn’t buckle. How’s a big strike for me. That means I am getting fat. I didn’t do any exercise anymore during these two years. I sit on the chair all day in the office on workday, and on the weekend, I go to school and also sit around 8 hours a day. After school, I eat a lot of snacks and drink to release my pressure. So that’s the reason why I am getting fat. Now, I would like to control my weight, I want eat less and do more exercise. It not only can lose my weight, but also better to my health. I believe that I can put on my jeans in someday again.

If I Were Rich

Everybody has different dreams that they would do if they were rich. Some people would buy a huge house, expensive cars, jewelry or travel all over the world. However, if I were a rich, what would I do?

First, I would pay off any debts that I have and my family has. I would help all my relatives to clear all of their debts. I don’t want them worried about their debit note every month. I would help them pay off to their creditor first, and then they would pay back to me little by little without interest.

Second, I also would do the same things as most people would do. I would take my family to travel all over the world to see all beauty scenes and all ancient monuments. Besides, I would build a big house with rooms by the dozen which can let homeless people live in. I would plan a lot of vegetables and fruits around my house and would fill my yard with chickens, turkeys and gees, sqwacking merrily as they can.

Last and the most important that I think many people forget is that when you are rich, you face a responsibly, and the responsibility is to help others. If I were rich, I would open up two non-profit organizations, one can help missing children and adults found and returned to their loved family. And the other would build a library which can help children whose parents were divorce or poor family’s children.

The first of my non-profit organization that would be devoted to helping find missing people would have a wide range of people to assist. I would hire some law background people, such as unemployed person, retired person and military. Due to, there are too many people missing in recent society and not enough manpower to help their family; therefore, this organization not only would assist missing people family to find their member, but also let miss people back their loved home.

In addition, the other of my non-profit organization that would be built library to help children whose parents was divorce or poor family’s children. They might do not have the suitable environment for studying. In this library, there would a lot of loved volunteers there to help them at study. We would let this children feel here also has others person to concern them. He or she is not only him or herself.

There are the things that I would do if I were rich. What would you do? I just know what I would do; I would pay off my debts, travel all over the world, build a big house and open up two non-profit organizations. How about yours?

Cherish your Life

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of suicides being reported in the media. Some of the deceased had had financial problems. Others were under pressures from school, or work. Still others committed suicide because they were broke up with their lover. Whatever the reason, these suicide people all had something in common. They believed that they were the most miserable person in the world and nobody could understand them and what they were expecting. So that they were so depressed and chose to end their lives.

Suicide cannot solve anything. The only one thing, it really hurt your family and lover. How can they be cold-hearted to make their family and friends suffer? Suicide is never the answer to your problems. Talk to your family and friends if your feel depressed. Your life is not only yourself. It is not a game that can be replayed, so we should cherish every moment of it.

The Vegetarian

Being vegetarianism is becoming more and more popular around the world. In Taiwan, many people practice vegetarianism because their religion, as like Buddhism, Yi Kuan Tao…and etc. Nowadays, people become vegetarianisms not only for religious reasons. Instead, it is considered by many to be a healthier way of life rather than just a rule imposed by religion. Besides, people also have different reasons for going vegetarianism. Some people think that vegetarian’s diet not only can help them lose weight, but also can give them better healthy. Others say a vegetarian’s diet can lower the risk of high blood pressure diseases like cancer or apoplexy.

By the way, research also suggests that vegetarianism is helping reduce the rate of global warming by creating less demand for the meat produced by the livestock industry which is reasonable for a lot of greenhouse gas emission. No matter what’s the reasons that the amount of vegetarian is on the rise.

Being Yourself

Since we live in a society of peers, so that it is very difficult to ignore what other people think and say about us. Sometimes we change ourselves mind or opinions in order to fit with others.

Sometimes, I also got easily irritated because I put too much pressure on myself during the work. Of course, I should not force myself to become someone that I am not. Instead, I should be happy with who I am and accept my imperfections. Just being yourself, do not need to cater for everyone’s taste.

Divorce Ceremonies

Everybody is used to the traditional “I do” during the exchange of wedding rings. Nevertheless, with divorce on the rise in Japan, some couples are choosing to celebrate the end of unhappy marriage in front of their friends and family at a divorce ceremony. Divorce ceremonies were pioneered about a year ago by a former salesman, Hiroki Terai, who set up a "divorce mansion" at a hidden space in Tokyo

Terai explained that everyone should be a positive way to end a marriage. At the ceremony, friends and family of the couple going through a divorce witness them smashing their wedding rings with a gavel. The gavel has a frog’s head, which symbolizes change in Japanese culture. The moment the couple see the smashed rings. After they smashed the ring together, they felt like "oh, this is the end of it, really" and their heart and soul felt renewed. Now they feel they can have a new life and start all over again.

Tunisian Revolution

The 2010-2011 Tunisian revolution is an intensive campaign of civil resistance, including a series of street demonstrations taking place in Tunisia. The events began in December 2010 and led to the ousting of longtime President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011.

This issue starts from the protests were sparked by the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi on December 17. After Mohamed Bouazizi dead, hundreds of young people demonstrate in front of the city hall, and they also play the video that the conflict between police and protester on facebook & youtube to everybody know it. The result of this revolution led to the ousting of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali 28 days later on 14 January 2011, when he officially resigned after fleeing to Saudi Arabia, ending 23 years in power.

For this revolution, I think that most of protesters just want to express their opinions and lead to the ousting of their President. Owing to they are not satisfied of their life, such as inflation, decayed government and they also do not have freedom of speech, so that’s why the people are so angry. I admire those protester that they are not afraid the might of government and resist with them. Finally, they are successes and their President Zine El Abidine flees to Saudi Arabia.

Lunar Chinese New Year

The Lunar Chinese New Year is the most significant festival for the Chinese around the world. It is the time that people can take a break from work or school to get together with their family and friends. For the parents, it’s the busy days that they should clean the house and prepares the stuff and food for the New Year. For the children, they love this festival that their parents would buy new clothes, shoes and gave red envelopes to them.

In my memory, on Lunar Chinese New Year’s Eve, all of my family members, uncles, aunts, cousins…etc. who are no longer living at home make a special effort to return home for reunion and share in a sumptuous meal with my grandparents. After the meal, it’s the happiest time for children that we can receive the “lucky money” from the elders which with full of cash in red envelopes. My cousins and I also try to stay up all night to welcome the New Year, as it has long been believed that by so doing on New Year’s Eve, our parents would live a longer life. We saw drama, played cards, games, and set off fireworks until New Year coming. During the Chinese New Year, everywhere full of joy and happiness.

However, in recent years, both of my grandparents were passed away, and most of my cousins got married and had their own children. We never gather together during the Chinese New Year in these years. And now, the mood of Lunar Chinese New Year is less than less. It is just like normal holidays. But I still like this Festival, owing to only on the Lunar Chinese New Year Holidays; I can take a break from my work.

Low Birth Rate in Taiwan

According to the reporting that “The government is considering allowing families that have a second child to hire foreign nannies in order to attempting the raise the country’s low birth rate”. For this policy, is it really can raise the country’s low birth rate? And why are young people so resistant to having babies?

In my opinion, I think this proposal that have a second child can hire foreign nannies will not help increasing the birth rate; it’s only the rich are able to hire foreign nannies to look after their children. In order to raise Taiwan’s very low birth rate, the Interior Ministry has not only asking the “slogan” to encourage couple to have child, but also preparing to spend NT$600 million to encourage couples to have more than two child. There are to be no income limits, allowing parents at all levels of society to take advantage. Every month until the child is two years old, the parents will receive NT$3,000 towards daycare fees. However, some members of the public think children are too expensive and others say it would be unreasonable to expect the government to pay the full cost of raising a child. Children are a part of their families, and some government subsidy is better than none at all.

Besides, I think, there is also a "money" problem that young people are resistant to have babies -- wages so low, housing and education costs so high. Probably the best solution is perfect society welfare of child, as like education that can improve our low birth rate. So that the parents cannot worry their child, he or she can grow up safety and happiness in this society. It’s really not the good ideas to hire nannies that has second child.

The Book of “RICH DAD, POOR DAD”

I read the book of “Rich Dad Poor Dad” in this winter vacation. It is a book by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. It discusses financial independence through investing, real estate, owning businesses, and the use of finance protection strategy.

The book highlights the different attitudes to money, work and life of two men, and how they in turn influenced in Kiyosaki's life. According to Kiyosaki and Lechter, eash dad had a different way of teaching his son that how to get rich.

Some of the book's topics are:
• the value of financial intelligence.
• that corporations spend first, then pay taxes, while individuals must pay taxes first.
• that corporations are artificial entities that anyone can use, but the poor usually don't know how.

There are a lot of futures of this book. First, it's declaration that it isn't a get-rich-quick book, you should follow it step by step. Second, there's the repeated claim that "the rich" have "secrets" that led to their success and will be revealed. Third, the material is presented as a series of "lessons. It’s really worth to read it if you would like to be rich. However, the book which I read is Chinese version, I will try to read it in English version. It must be a big challenge for me.

My Best Friend

Friends are very important in our life. Fortunately, I have a lot of friends in my different studying stage. One of my best friends is my schoolmates of junior high school, her name is Selina. We studied at the same elementary school; however, we don’t know each other during that time until the junior high school.

The first date of the school, the teacher asked us to introduce ourselves, so that I knew we came from the same elementary school. Selina, has a very nice personality, wonderful sense of humor, friendly and enthusiastic about helping people. Although, both of us have different friends in the class; however, she always can find that when I get depress, and always encourage me to cheer up and give my best advice. She is very smart. Usually, she did not spend too much time on studying, but her grade was pretty high. She is not only very good at mathematics, but also at sport. She have had bronze medal of running from athletic meet of junior high school at Taipei County.
Of course, sometimes we have different ideas and quarrel with each other. I did not talk with her more than a week, till she said sorry to me. After the communicating, we further understood each other and more cherish our friendship.

We knew each other since we were 13 years old, until now almost 20 years. I know I can rely on her very much. Even when our lives get busy so far, but we still make time to go out with each other two times at least a year. Anyway, Selina is still my best friend, and nothing can change it. I believe that our friendship will until forever.
